Rome, 16 October 2026 – ENAV announces that anomalies were detected overnight in the nationwide data transmission network supporting air traffic control services throughout Italy.
Thanks to the activation of established contingency systems, ENAV ensured normal air traffic operations until 6:00 a.m. this morning, without any reduction in operational capacity.
As of 6:00 a.m., due to the progressive increase in air traffic and the persistence of the anomalies, air traffic flow management measures have been introduced to continue ensuring the highest levels of operational safety. These measures entail a temporary reduction in the capacity to handle aircraft within Italian airspace.
Ongoing technical investigations have traced the anomalies to the data transmission network. ENAV is working to identify the underlying causes and restore full system functionality.
Malicious activity has been ruled out as a possible cause of the anomalies.
