Performance Based Navigation (PBN) and Point In Space (PInS) Procedures Performance Based Navigation is an Area navigation based on specific performance requirements for aircraft operating along an ATS route, instrument approach procedure in a designated airspace.

This concept allows the use of instrument procedures based on satellite technology (GNSS/ EGNOS) characterised by high precision and reliability. PBN concept, trough the “Point In Space” procedures, supports helicopter operations providing high flexibility in airspace design and ideally the possibility to use any landing location.

Considering that PInS procedures are Instrument Flight Procedures, the main advantage is the possibility to use them also in low visibility conditions, with a considerable increase in productivity
