EUROCONTROL Security Team

The aim of the meeting was to focus on themes linked to security in the setting up of the Single European Sky programme.

November 19 in Brussels saw the meeting of SET, the Eurocontrol Security Team, headed by its  President Francesco Di Maio, who is also Security Officer for ENAV. The aim of the meeting was to focus on themes linked to security in the setting up of the Single European Sky programme and on monitoring levels of risk which could interfere with the supply of air navigation services.

The delicate question of '''Remote Towers'' was also discussed, starting off the debate regarding common security requirements needed to ensure that information is as available, complete and as confidential as possible, in order to provide regular and secure air  navigation services even from non conventional positions.

In particular, discussions included the outcomes of the ICAO Avsec Panel which took place in March and which was attended by ENAV, contributing technical support, and the new control and auditing processes promoted by ICAO, ECAC and EASA.

In its multiple role, SET has directed its work towards the maintenance and updating of the ATM (Air Traffic Management)  Security handbook also in the light of developments in International and European regulations as well as the continuing evolution of the risk profile.
