1/2 April 2014 - Organized in Italy by ENAV and ENAC an exercise on cases of volcanic eruptions. The international organization will involve 13 states and more than 40 airlines.

The scenario involves the eruption of Stromboli volcano and the subsequent emission of volcanic ash that will affect the different states of Eastern and Central Europe. One of the objectives will be to harmonize the actions between the states involved, the air navigation service providers and the air companies, certified procedures established by EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) .

The simulation will be directed to all the institutions involved on the procedures for local coordination, ATS (Air Traffic Services), AIS (Aeronautical Information Service), MET (Meteorological) and INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanologia) - Etneo Observatory, that will produce specific messaging for trade between volcanological observatories and aviation organizations concerned.
