ENAV carries out continuous control of national radio aids (Radar, VOR, DME, VDF, ILS, etc.). These apparatus use electromagnetic signals, which give information about the aircraft’s horizontal and vertical position to the pilot, through on-board instrumentation. The continuous verification of the accuracy of these signals make it possible to fly in total safety.
ENAV’s fleet of Piaggio Aero P180 Avanti II aircraft carry out this activity, putting in an average of 1,800 flying hours/year. These specially equipped aircraft can perform in-flight checks without the need for ground-based apparatus, obtaining results in real time and always as per international norms.
The flight inspection sector is also involved in research. One of the aircraft in the fleet has been equipped with an innovative laboratory where tests are carried out to try out and check new ATM projects.
OUR FLEET
ENAV can rely on a brand new fleet of 4 Piaggio P180 AVANTI II aircrafts exclusively dedicated to flight inspection activities. With the superior performance this aircraft, and its Flight Inspection System, is able to deliver the efficiency and precision required for the Flight Inspection activity. In terms of general performance the P180 is the fastest turboprop in production today with a top speed of 402 Kts, a certified ceiling of 41,000 feet and a range of over 1,500 nautical miles. Professionally flown by our crew, the combination aircraft/ flight inspection system will provide the edge over competitors, with greater efficiency, reduced emissions and top precision in the flight inspection results.
