Techno Sky is fully responsible for hardware and software technical management and maintenance for the full range of installations and systems used in ATC services.
The Company ensures seamless technical and operational management of its 4 Area Control Centres (Brindisi, Milan, Rome and Padua), 45 Italian airports, a training school called “Training Centre”, 45 radar systems, 117 telecommunication centres, 84 weather systems, 247 navigational aid systems (ILS, VOR and DME) and all software systems for operational automation.
The Company operates on an extremely diversified range of systems with differing functions, technologies, manufacturers and period of construction.
The results achieved are the product of more than 40 years of specialised experience in the industry, which implied defining a unique set of methodologies and procedures for preventive and corrective maintenance – based on extensive use of information technology and the consequent population of particular databases with the recorded history of each of the installed systems/devices.
Technical activities are conducted in such a way as to meet the most rigorous standards through a distributed and flexible organisational structure. A staff of 600 – including highly specialised engineers and technicians – collaborate closely with the Italian ATC Service Provider for the following purposes:
• governance, management and technical operation of ATC centres
• technical and operational reconfiguration on a 24 hour basis, for the maximum availability of the ATC systems used (99.98% uptime)
• identification and application of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures on individual systems and devices
• Technical/system support and software maintenance
• Technical/statistical analyses for performance and system-trend evaluations
• HW/SW configuration checks
• Material logistics (stock-level management, supply, distribution and storage management)
• Metrological verification to ensure the traceability of measurement and monitoring devices used to assess system performance
Through its in-depth knowledge of ATC technical and operational requirements, Techno Sky is constantly able to identify customers’ requirements in advance and introduce efficient and innovative solutions.
A systematic and extended use of information technology is among the major factors that simplify the flow of information and support decision-making processes. With that in mind, the Company built a full and efficient automated system to support logistic activities.
Its logistic information system developed after 30 years of specialised experience, projects and investments is a dynamic solution based on a combination of standard components and ad hoc applications that are used to optimise new theoretical models for optimum integrated logistic support.
Instrumentation-Laboratory and LAT (Accredited Calibration Laboratory)
Centre In support of its Operations, Techno Sky has set up a competent organisation in charge of managing, configuring and calibrating measurement systems and general-purpose or particular ATC instrumentation.
Its Central Metrological Laboratory performs the calibration of a wide range of instruments, with a calibration capacity of around 3500 instruments per annum.
The Laboratory automatically manages all technical and logistic operations and has complex measuring benches for several types of calibrations and tests including signal-simulation tests.
Weather sensors have reached a particularly advanced stage of development with sophisticated internal systems to measure pressure, temperature and relative humidity; calibrations are made internally on around 650 sensors per annum.
The LAT centre (identified as ACCREDIA LAT 015 – www.accredia.it) calibrates the reference instruments used in the Instrumentation Laboratory. Calibrations are performed by specific measurement instruments and procedures and ensure the traceability of measurements made on national and/or international samples, in accordance with the respective physical units of interest of the international System of Units (SI), and the physical units reproduced in Primary Institutes. The foregoing activities are carried out in compliance with the applicable international standards for metrology (UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025) and the requirements of ACCREDIA’s LAT (Calibration Laboratories) department.
Calibration certificates issued by the LAT 015 Laboratory are accepted in all European Countries having signed the EA-MLA (European Cooperation for Accreditation – Multilateral Agreement) as well as in non-European countries having signed the ILAC – MRA (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation – Mutual Recognition Arrangement).
System Installation and Integration
In its activities related to ATC systems and installations, Techno Sky attends to the installation and integration of technical and operational environments. It also develops installation projects, manages pre-operational phases through the design and implementation of test/audit plans and migration plans and supports the operational component during the phases of risk analysis, validation and operational certification. Techno Sky also manages the transitions of systems to the operational phase by coordinating the technical activities in such a way as to ensure continuity of service. All of the above activities are carried out on behalf of both national and international clients.
