Metodology

ECEC plays a leading role in CNS/ATM R&D and Validation in the Mediterranean area and is looking for developing synergies and cooperation with other R&D Centres in the neighbouring regions in support of SESAR Development Phase.

In particular, ECEC is fully committed to provide a strong and effective contribution to the SESAR Development Phase and to improve and speed up the transfer from R&D to Operations in cooperation with SESAR JU and the interested aviation stakeholders.

To achieve that, ECEC is working along 3 main lines of actions:
- Develop its own expertise and know how in the fields of main advanced concepts and ATM components pre-operational validation, ADS-B and Functional Airspace Blocks implementation;
- Act as focal point for regional CNS/ATM R&D and Validation services;
- Develop cooperation and partnerships with neighbouring ANSPs, Research Centres, industry and universities.

In particular, the ECEC is equipped with an integrated and wide range of ATM and Avionics pre-operational validation systems/platforms used for all types of model-based and real-time/human in the loop simulations.

In general, the validation methodology used at ECEC is fully consistent with most relevant European standards (like E-OCVM, ESARRs etc.) generally applied for the analysis of CNS/ATM systems operability, safety, capacity and environmental sustainability.

ECEC follows a V&V lifecycle methodology that is holistic, streamlined and efficient. Our deep and long experience in CNS/ATM validation domain helps us deliver exceptional quality and service, with optimal cost-efficiency.

With reference to the European Operational Concept Validation Methodology, ECEC offers a wide set of ATM System and Concept validation infrastructures, skills and support ranging from step V1 (Scope) up to the step V4 (Pre-Operational).
